In the UK - we throw away half of all the food we buy. The Love Food Hate Waste Roadshow is designed to change consumer behaviour towards food waste. The team will be at the Riverside Festival from 12noon until 8pm on Saturday 6 August and 12noon until 6pm on Sunday 7 August.

During the roadshow a chef will produce food from basic ingredients that people would have in their cupboard, or would normally throw in the bin. The demonstrations include top cooking tips and ideas on how to make everyday food last longer, storage tips and hope to inspire the audience to create a change in behaviour towards food waste.

There will be roughly 4-6 demonstrations each day with each demonstration typically lasting approximately thirty minutes.

Household food and drink waste is a major issue, with 8.3 million tonnes being generated every year in the UK. Individual households throw away more food and drink each year than packaging, adding around £600 to the average family annual grocery bill. Most of this could be avoided, delivering financial savings for both householder and Local Authority, along with significant environmental benefits.
