Eco Houses Under Construction – Events 3 and 4

Eco Houses Under Construction – Event 3
After the first 2 events in July attracting over 80 visitors between them, the date for the 3rd event has now been set.
This event will be held on Saturday 10th September at 12.30pm on site at the timber frame new build. Since the first event held at this site, a roof, triple glazed windows and lime plaster have been added. One very important development that you can’t see is the blown insulation within the timber frame walls (a recycled cellulose fibre which results in high airtightness and thermal mass but low u values and cost).

Event 4 - Sunday 2nd October at 1pm (and a second slot at 3pm if there is high demand)
This refurbishment, in Mapperley Park, is nearing completion and is already one of the UK's most advanced whole-house retrofits, using the Passive House methodology.  It is a Victorian coach house which has been super-insulated internally to retain its historically sensitive exterior in the context of a conservation area.  Technologies employed include air tightness barriers, a high-end MVHR system to deliver fresh air to this air-tight house, triple-glazed windows, solar thermal panels to provide hot water, and a small stand-alone wood-burning stove instead of central heating.  A PV system is planned for the roof of the outbuildings.

The Eco House Group is teaming up with the AECB (Association of Sustainable Builders) to organise this event for those who are interested in examples of ultra-low energy refurbishment. The architect, Gil Schalom, will lead the tour and a discussion on all aspects of this particular project.
If you would like to reserve a place and receive details of the location of this event, just email me at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Numbers will be limited, so an additional slot at 3pm will be arranged if necessary.
If you missed the first two events, there are summaries on the blog: www.wbecohouses.co.uk. To see what other projects Transition West Bridgford has to offer, go to www.transitionwb.co.uk.

Kind regards
Tina
