Low energy homes on show

The biggest "Eco Houses Under Construction" event yet!
Have you ever wondered what an ultra-low energy home would be like?  For a glimpse into the future, why not come along to this free exhibition at St Paul’s Church on Boundary Road West Bridgford on Saturday 21st January 2012.

Whether your priorities include saving money, reducing your carbon footprint, comfort, future-proofing, or using sustainable materials and high quality products – this exhibition has something for you.
The exhibition includes an internally insulated stone coach house, a typical solid wall brick house (super-insulated externally),  a zero-carbon barn conversion as well as local new builds at Green Street in the Meadows and one in West Bridgford.  For articles about these houses and more, have a look at the website http://www.wbecohouses.co.uk/.

So why not make a day of it? From 10am until 1pm there will be displays and talks featuring each house.

Taste Café will be selling their cakes and light lunches at the hall and serving free teas and coffees kindly paid for by our funders!  During the afternoon, there will be the chance to visit some of the houses featured. This is your opportunity to see the displays, go to the presentations, meet the home owners and put your questions to the architects, builders and experts in insulation and renewable technologies who worked on these projects. This exhibition is part of the “Eco Houses under Construction” series which enables interested members of the public to visit low energy homes for free. The timber frame house, for example, was open to visitors in July 2011 just two weeks after the frame arrived on site and again in September when most of the outer shell was complete. The refurbishment of a 1950s brick house has just started and will be open for visits at intervals through the winter. (Email us if you want to be invited.) Booking is not required, but if you are thinking of coming along to the exhibition, just email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Eco Houses Under Construction project is funded by Climate East Midlands, East Midlands Improvement and Efficiency Partnership and Communities and Local Government with a Growing Climate Friendly Communities grant.
